Black Grouper - Key West Fishing
 |
| You'll work up a good appetite bringing
one of these brutes to the surface. |
The Black Grouper is the most common grouper found in Key West.
Sometimes weighing 50 or more pounds, these strong fish, when hooked,
head for the bottom, and as often as not, manage to break the line on
the sharp coral.
Grouper are bottom dwellers and are best fished deep to get the bait
near the coral formations.
Cooler water seems to attract larger fish into shallower areas during
winter and spring, the best time for grouper fishing. |

| The Florida
Keys are located in the most biologically diverse area of the Atlantic
Ocean. Due to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean sandwiching
the islands, while the warm Gulf Stream current meanders close by,
the ocean surrounding the Keys contains more species of fish than
anywhere else in the Atlantic.
